View, attachment
"We must not be attached to a view or a doctrine, even a Buddhist one. The Buddha said that if in a certain moment or place you adopt something as the absolute truth, and you attach to that, then you will no longer have any chance to reach the truth. Even when the truth comes and knocks on your door, and asks you to open the door, you won't recognize it. So you must not be too attached to dogma--to what you believe."

Acceptance
If you accept everybody, all beings, good and bad, tall and small, intelligent and ignorant, then you will never have to worry about being stuck up, being "too good," or being alone.

Stopping Understanding
When we say, "I know," we choose not to learn. To meet every situation with, "I don't know, but I am listening openly" is choosing to learn whenever possible

aum
There is no competition. One man's win is another man's loss. There is nothing to be done. Do something and the opposite is undone. No striving. Try to do and trying is all that will be done. No building and no destruction. No ignorance and no true knowledge. Thoughtlessness.

Any occasion can be a fragment in a mirror that, if we take the time to clean the piece, consider the nature of ourselves and this piece and then place the piece, as we do this time and time again, a picture of the self will form. The more mindful we are with each occasion, the more pieces we will find. The more mindful we are when we assess and assemble the pieces, like cleaning glass with a cloth, the clearer the picture will be.

Growing the good parts II
Sometimes the difficulties people express in their lives'; constantly underachieving, phobias, obsessive behavior, anger shown towards strangers, self-destructive behavior, sometimes these things are simply a means of communication. Sometimes these tendencies are meant to garner the attention of someone who can help them, someone who can understand them, someone who is strong enough to hold up the mirror as they help to calm the waters of the soul.

Growing the good parts
Insult the demon and it only grows, but show it love and you will have made an angel
Dealing with Difficult People
This monk has a beautiful couple of stories, quite a few bad jokes and plenty of valuable lessons to share. Do you have a family member, colleague, neighbor, perhaps a friend that stresses you out? They get on your nerves and are difficult to deal with? Do something to make you both better for it.

Trying
Don't try to be something. Don't internalize these words as to help you maintain or claim a sense of uniqueness, a sense of originality, but because there is art where you have yet to look, a treasure unseen so far. Don't TRY to be something because you already are something. Shhh.

Contradictions
I really like this article. It's SHORT. It talks about the idea of what we allow to define our ideals, i.e. how we think a buddhist monk ought to behave.

Desire
When you desire something, when you want it, it is like telling your mind that you do not have it. How often does it happen that you have lots of things that you don't want, while other people want these things and do not have them. Maybe we shouldn't spend our time want things and then working for them, but enjoying what we are given. Yea, I know it sounds easier than it is...if you want it, that is.

Opening Up
Sometimes there seems to be a certain thing, perhaps a certain person's words, a certain item's beauty, a certain book, a particular concept or way of movement......whatever it is, it is specific and it has the power to open you up, bring you to feel and experience something new, something beautiful. This experience, this, "seeing-the-beauty" becomes easier as you become less bias to the source of wisdom. Wisdom pervades everything, it's a matter of open your eyes

letting go
There is something the mind grasps at when it is not at peace, whether it is a feeling, a thought, an object...to let that go in the moment is the free yourself from........well, from yourself.

teachers
"If we learn to open our hearts, anyone, including the people who drive us crazy, can be our teacher."
-Pema Chodron
Understanding runs deep
“Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.” -Siddhārtha Gautama

Holding on
We, the flowers of our realities, water ourselves and others with intention. Like flowers have seeds, we not only have the ability to grow ourselves, but others as well. With that in mind, do you wonder what happens to our realities' when we stop watering? Can reality just......die?

Hunger
Your body can survive in hunger because your spirit holds it up, asks it to keep going, motivates it to stay alive. Hunger too often tells the mind to think into the future, where there is only potential, so the mind must imagine a future reality, tell the hunger a satisfying story. Too often does hunger occupy the mind, keeping it from listening to the soul, hearing the spirits that whisper the secrets of the universe to the mind. This food fight dirties the Playground of Peace. Have some manners, Please.
Can't sleep, too much light in the room
So, a problem I've had as of late: Too much light coming into my room at night is making it tough to sleep. I close the door and put the shades down, but the neighborhood light pollution is still enough to light my room up like it's dawn. A cheap and impermanent way to make the room much darker is to tape tinfoil on the glass. The light is A) unable to penetrate the foil & B) reflected
Hey, maybe the reflected light will go to people that actually want it at 2 in the morning now...
